What Causes A Painful Round Lump And Swelling In The Foot?

i was at work today when i noticed pain in my foot. i got home and took off my shoes to reveal a round lump about an inch in diameter. it s highly sensitive and it now pains me to walk. i don t remeber injuring my foot at anytime but it s very swollen. it s neat the weight bearing part of my heal on the inside of my arch. about two inches from the back of my foot. it s very painful to touch or even walk on. any ideas?

Hi,

Painful lesions such as the one that you described are most commonly as the result of trauma either direct or indirect.

Indirect trauma may be from the shoes worn or prolonged standing etc.

Rest, icing the area, elevation of the foot and the use of anti-inflammatory medications would be helpful to relieve your discomfort.
