What Causes A Painful Small Bump On The Baby Finger?

For the past couple of weeks I ve had a stinging sensation about the circumference of the tip of my baby finger. The other day a small bump appeared next to it. My husband says it s pink with a faint cream colored dot in the middle of it. Says it looks like a pimple without a head. I just touched it and it felt like I stuck myself with a pin. Can it be an ingrown hair? I shaved there about 4 weeks ago.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Your symptoms seem to be related to furuncle. It is related to an infection of the hair follicle. I recommend washing and drying frequently the area with antibacterial soap. I also recommend using antibiotic cream for local application such as Bivacin cream.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Dorina Gurabardhi, General & Family Physician
