What Causes A Painfully Swollen Lymph Node On Neck Post Tongue Piercing?

Hello, I just got my tongue pierced 3 days ago. I have had no swelling, and the pain has been very minimal. But today I noticed that my left Lymph node on my neck has progressively been getting more swollen. I don t have any cold like symptoms, but it is very sore to the touch. Any advice? Thanks

General & Family Physician 's  Response
HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

Lymph nodes are part of the immune system and they respond to inflammation or infection in their particular area of drainage.

The lymph nodes in the neck and chin respond to any infection/inflammation in the head/neck.
This is the reason that they have responded to the tongue piercing even if not infected, it is a source of inflammation.

The use of anti inflammatory agents such as naproxen , cataflam or ibuprofen may help.

Monitor for signs of infection

I hope this helps
