What Causes A Pale Mark On Neck Along With Pain And Itching?
Hello I m a 23 year old female A year ago I got a pale mark on my neck small now it got about 2 inches all around its pale in color but it has a clear film on top it looks like a burn but it s not red or dark. It itches and burns every once in a while but not all the time. Do you have any idea on what condition I could be?

The described lesion fits the description of pityriasis versicolor, a fungal infection which is common in healthy individuals. The condition is harmless and not contagious. It is seen usually in sweaty and exposed areas, as the name suggests the affected areas can show patches of white/pale brown to darker shades of brown. The patch is usually covered with very fine scale and the area resist to tan on sun exposure.
You can try managing the condition at home using over the counter anti-fungal shampoo like ketoconazole applied over the affected area for undiluted for about 5 minutes and washing it off with plenty of water. Repeat this twice a day for up to 5 days per week and repeat next week if required . If the condition worsens or does not show any signs of improvement in 2 weeks, consult your physician for further management.
