What Causes A Persistent Red Lesion On The Arm?

Hi My 23yo Daughter is in very good health but has had a persistent lesion on her inside arm for over 2 years now. Sometimes it looks like it has shrunk and then other days will be quite red We have a skin specialist booking but wondering if you can give me any ideas that are positive? Many thanks

Hi.
As per your case history your daughter is probably having granuloma annulare.
My treatment advice is -
1. Don't scratch the lesion as it may worsen the condition.
2. Apply a mild topical steroid cream like mometasone cream on the lesion twice daily.
3. Other treatment options are oral vitamin E, topical tacrolimus given only after consulting a dermatologist.

Thanks.
