What Causes A Person To Want To Sleep All The Time?

Lately, I have not had any energy. I m sleepy all the time. So sleepy, I won t drive for fear of falling asleep at the wheel. I have fallen asleep twice while climbing into bed and wake up half in and half out. The other night I had brushed my teeth and went to pick up something off the floor and must have fallen asleep as I remember hitting my head on the edge of the shower and my elbow on the floor. I woke up the next morning and went to bed. What s going on? I have cut back on my Rxs as I was taking so many that my GYN suggested taking the necessary ones and every couple of weeks introducing one more. So far I have I m only taking five. My requip, my tremor meds, stomach medicine, nerve med (but only half) and the last one I added was for pain and spasms as I have severe back pain. What could be causing this?

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

One possibility could still be the medication. It is a little hard to judge as you mention tremor medicines and nerve medicines without the actual names, but it is important to know names and dosages as often such drugs have sedating effects and may be the cause.
Another possibility would be sleep apnea, a condition indication breathing issues during sleep, making for bad quality sleep and sleepiness during the day. Hormonal issues like low thyroid function may also be considered as a possible cause through a simple blood test.
I remain at your disposal for other questions.

Hope I have answered your query.
