What Causes A Pilonidal Sinus?

Hi, I believe from what I have read online that I have a pilonidal sinus. It has drained on its own and I am about to go see a doctor about the hole that has been left there. I would just like to know if surgery is completely necessary or will the hole heal over in time as I take antibiotics?

Hello,

Surgery is necessary in order to prevent this situation from reoccurring. It will be present there and accumulate again if it is not removed completely by surgery.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Ilir Sharka, Cardiologist
