What Causes A Prominent Blood Vessel On The Knee?

About 3-4 weeks ago I had a blood vessel pop right below my knee, it looked like I grew another knee..went to comprehensive Care and was told to put ice on it...since then I noticed down the front of my leg has started to sweep and is very tender to the touch. Also my knee has been hurting when bumped even slightly...I didn t fall or anything that caused the busted blood vessel just squatted down for a second and when I got back up it started swelling...should I go to Dr. And get my leg checked out???

Hi,
You definitely need to see a vascular surgeon. It sounds like a varicose vein, and judging from the fact that is swollen and tender it may be that is inflamed. This can lead to deep vein thrombosis and to pulmonary embolism.
You need to see the surgeon to asses the severity of your condition.
I hope I have answered your question. Wish you good health!
