What Causes A Rash On The Leg Post A Knee Replacement Surgery?

Good evening...I had a partial knee replacement 4 weeks ago and I have developed a rash. It started down by my ankle and is moved up to my thigh. It s also on my incision as well. It s little red bumps that almost reminds me of poison ivy. Not sure if I should be concerned.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

The symptoms seem to be related to an allergic reaction. I suggest using an antihistamine medication such as Cetirizine daily. I also suggest using Calamine lotion for local applications. If the rash continues, you should consult your doctor.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr. Dorina Gurabardhi, General & Family Physician
