Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes A Rash On The Lower Leg While Suffering From Psoriasis?
My husband is allergic to sulfa and has very sensitive skin he took a bath in magnesium sulfate and now has a rash down both his legs. He has severe psoriasis all over that he treats with cream but idk what this rash is its small little red places everywhere.Hope you can help.
When a person is allergic to a specific agent, rashes are one of the things to occur when there is contact with the allergic agent.
Allergic rashes are also one of the side effects of magnesium sulfate. I would suggest you to stop using it for bath immediately.
Visit a dermatologist for the same or go to ER if it's itchy and causing any discomfort. Next time make sure you use anything that comes in contact with skin as per your doctor’s advice.
As in psoriasis the skin is very sensitive due to overactive immune system. Also as you said he is allergic to sulfa drugs, mention that to your doctor if you have not.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
Regards,
Dr Manisha Auradkar, General & Family Physician
