What Causes A Rectovaginal Fistula?

For the last week I have had poop coming from my urethra. I had diarrhea coming from anal and my urethra. A little pain in stomach but nothing I can t live with. I am a colon cancer survivor and had a foot of my sigmoid colon removed. What does this mean?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

The main cause of a recto-vaginal fistula is injuries during child birth. However, surgical injuries during your colectomy could have eventually contributed to this problem.

I suggest you to see a surgeon and get the matter resolved.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Neel Kudchadkar
