Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes A Red Bruise After An Injury In Thigh?
I went paintballing and got shot on the thigh, and the bruise has gotten progressively more red over the past 4 days. Normally my bruises turn purple/blue within less than a day, so I was wondering how long a normal bruise should bleed for. It s about 3 in by 2 1/2 in and it is strangely spotted with a seemingly unaffected 1 inch diameter center. I m not too concerned about it, however I was wonder how I should treat it and I m curious why it s spotting with a white center.
The symptoms seem to be related to a bruise during the injury. The bruise is completely normal after an injury and will recover gradually. I recommend to use vitamin K cream for local application. I also suggest using anti inflammatory medications such as Acetaminophen to relieve the pain and inflammation.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. Dorina Gurabardhi, General & Family Physician
