What Causes A Red Bump In The Genital Area?

i am a virgin and was gonna scratch out of minor discomfort but then felt a bump, I look and see a red bump and I know it s not from a razor because my hair has grown back fully and so it s too much of a delayed reaction to be it. It s red and oozing out an oil and I tried to pop it but it won t pop so it s not a pimple, what is it? It s just a fleshy red oozing of oil, bump, do I wait it out? Clean it? Both?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

The symptoms can be related to Bartholin's cyst. I suggest to soak in warm water several minutes a day. I also suggest to use an anti inflammatory medications such as Acetaminophen to relieve the inflammation. If the symptoms continue, you should see the gynecologist for a physical examination and further treatment.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Dorina Gurabardhi, General & Family Physician
