What Causes A Red Indentation On The Side Of The Nose?

I have had a red indentation on the side of my nose for years now and over the past two months a large scab has formed. I have used peroxide and neosporin on it daily to no avail. It itches and seems like it is going to dry up and go away, but doesn t. What should I do?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Skin lesions, especially on the face, and that last for more than a few months, need to be checked with the doctor to rule out skin tumors such as basal cell carcinoma and squamous cell carcinoma.

If the doctor suspects these are skin tumors he may remove them and send them for biopsy. creams and other local treatments will not treat such conditions.

I hope this answers your query.
I remain at your disposal for further medical assistance.

Regards,
