What Causes A Red Itchy Rash On The Intergluteal Cleft?

Hi there, I noticed about 2 days ago that my upper butt crack areas was itching a bit. I didn t mind it much since it didn t feel bad. 2 days later I noticed that that same area is very itchy, if I touched it while showering it would hurt, felt like a pimple in that area. I took a picture of the area and it looks like a red rash on my butt crack. It does bleed sometimes when I touch it, and I ve noticed some clear discharge when I clean it daily. I don t believe it is spreading. What could this be? I do sweat a lot in that area as well if that helps. I would like to know what i can but to relieve the itch and sometimes pain on this area. Thank you for your help! Jose.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

The symptoms seem to be related to a fungal infection.

I suggest using antifungal cream for local application such as Miconazole cream.

I also suggest using antifungal tablets such a Diflucan.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Dorina Gurabardhi, General & Family Physician
