What Causes A Red Lump Behind The Ear?

Hi my daughter has recently gotten this reddish big lump behind the ear about the size of a grape I have taken her to the doctor but she said that it is a cyst and a general surgeon needs to take a look at it. I have an appointment on wed but I was looking at it and now it kind of had purple spots on it. Is that bad?

It seems that she might behaving sebaceous cyst and now became infected.
It might require excision with sac to get complete cure.
Consult surgeon and get examined.
