Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes A Red Patch On The Breast After A Breast Reduction Surgery?
Hi, one month shy of a year ago I had a breast reduction surgery. 2 days ago I noticed a red patch on my breast near the areola. Over the area of my scar it looks purplish like a bruise. The red patch is not textured or blotchy. It s not dry or flaky. It looks light red with small thin red lines that seem to run with normal cracks/lines in the skin. Occasionally it s a little itchy. I have worn different bras the last 2 days, but both bras I have worn before. No new soaps or lotions or anything. It feels like a small mass under the skin, but in an area that could be scar tissue. I just moved to a new area so I can t just pop into my Dr s office for a look. Any advice or precautions until I can get into a Dr? Thank you for your time.
It may be keloid or recurrence of underlying condition or skin infection, etc. Until examination is done it is difficult to say what it is. Please consult your physician/surgeon they will examine and treat you accordingly.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
