Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I am a MD in child psychiatry: My pt is 27yo female and has developed slightly reddish slightly puffy lower lip left side only but "spreading" No open sores or pain. Not progressing rapidly. No evidence of allergic phenomena. Never had any herpetic soars ever any where.. The puffins is mild but real.. Any thoughts She has a dermatologist if needed. YYYY@YYYY PS : Had URI with sever cough for three weeks slowly resolving NOT treated with antibiotics but a LOT of coughing...???Started flonase inhaler recently..
The symptoms of redness and puffiness of lip can be most probably an allergic reaction only although milder enough to cause any discomfort..
As the most recently used drug is in the form of Flonase inhaler, the redness and puffiness of lip can be a side effect of it or any other medication if she is taking..
So it is advisable to wait and watch as she is not having any pain or progression and she can do cool compresses over the lip..
If she is having any worsening of symptoms then she can be weaned off he medications to check if it improved and then further management can be done accordingly..
Hope this helps..
Regards.
