Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes A Ridge On The Skull With Recurring Headache?
My head is has changed shape and developed a sort of ridge I guess for lack of a better word that runs horizontally across the lower back of my skull. At first I thought I was insane for thinking my head felt weird, but my husband was playing with my hair/rubbing my head and noticed it as well. What could cause this? I also get headaches frequently...I actually have an appointment with a neurologist in a couple of days to do an expanded visual acuity test and go from there. Could the head shape change be related to the headaches? What should I be asking the neurologist about/what to look at?
These changes could be related to different possible causes: a brain tumor, Paget disease or vitamin D deficiency. For this reason, I recommend consulting with a neurologist for a physical exam and performing some tests: - Complete blood count, PCR, ESR - Vitamin D plasma levels - Blood electrolytes - A brain CT scan
You should discuss with your doctor on the above tests.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Ilir Sharka, Cardiologist
