What Causes A Ruptured Blister Under The Toe Despite Taking Cipro?
I am on a cruise ship and had a blister full of blood yesterday under my toe that I popped with a pin after dancing barefoot. Now I can t even walk on my toe. It is red and swollen. My doctor always gives me antibiotics to bring with me on a cruise in case I need them. I have a Z pak and Cipro 500 mg taken one twice a day for 5 days. Which medication will help me with this problem. I would like to enjoy the rest of my cruise. I am young and vibrant and want to put my high heels on as soon as possible and dance.
Hi. As per your case history of friction blister, my treatment advice is - 1. Wear loose footwear for at least 3 days to avoid further friction on affected part. 2. Apply a mild antibiotic cream like fusiderm cream twice daily on it. 3. Take a NSAID like ibuprofen for pain and swelling for 5-7 days. 4. Other treatment options are oral antibiotics like levofloxacin, cefadroxil and azithromycin taken only after consulting a dermatologist.
Thanks. Dr. Harshit bhachech. MBBS, DDVL.
