What Causes A Skin Tag On The Left Nipple?

I am a relatively healthy 69 yr old male. Obese , but physically active. A couple of weeks ago, I noticed by accident, my left nipple felt as if it was bruised ! I haven t seen a difference in color as opposed to the right. My wife hasn t felt lumps. The only thing I can see is what appears to be a skin tag. Does this makes any sense ?

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

A skin tag is a harmless condition and does not cause any problems.
However you can go for a mammogram to rule out any underlying lump or mass.
Once all other possibilities are ruled out, you can simply remove the skin tag under local anaesthesia.
Consult a general surgeon and he will direct you accordingly.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
