What Causes A Small Bump And Persistent Bleeding From Roof Of Mouth?

i started bleeding spontaneously from the roof of my mouth. I can feel a small bump with my oongue to the back, left side of the roof. It took about 45 mins for the bleeding to stop. The bleeding was heavy and my mouth kept filling up with blood that I had to spit out. scary this never happened to me before

Hi Dear,

Welcome to HCM.

Understanding your concern. Symptoms you mention in query like small bump and persistent bleeding from roof of mouth is a condition known as 'STOMATITIS' . Stomatitis occur due to various reasons like canker sore,cold sore or irritation. Stomatitis results in ulcers on roof of the mouth , ulcer at the site of molar and swelling of gums. Need not to worry. I would suggest you to consult dentist for proper examination and rule out condition like periapical abscess , periodontal abscess , allergy or oral herpes. Doctor may give you another denture ,prescribe antibiotics (amoxicillin) , steroid topical gel. For now apply orabase gel on sores , do salt warm water rinses , betadine rinses. You should avoid hot and spicy food.
