Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I felt a small, hard, pea sized, abnormally shaped little lump about 3 inside my vagina on the back right side of the vaginal wall. I ve never felt it, or had any other symptoms. No pain, or discomfort. No cramps, no bleeding. But I m very concerned that it could be cancerous or a sign of something more serious than a cyst. I know I need to go get a pelvic exam, but in the mean time, is there a chance it could be a sign of cancer?
Vaginal cysts, boils, and lumps are very common. They are usually symptomless.
Cysts are more likely to cause pain when they get infected. Vaginal cysts can become infected by the normal bacteria found on the skin or by a sexually transmitted infection.
There is a remote possibility of it being cancer which usually presents as bleeding from your vagina which is painless and not linked to your period, pain during sex or bleeding from your vagina after sex, smelly fluid or discharge coming from your vagin and constant pain in your pelvis in addition to an unusual lump inside your vagina.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
Regards,
Dr AJEET SINGH, General & Family Physician
