Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I ve had this bump on my pubic area for about a week now. I ve looked online, and I believe it may be an ingrown hair (I don t even shave there to be honest) or a sebaceous cyst. What worries me is that it s a little sore when I touch it, not extremely painful but uncomfortable when pressed. I m also worried as to why it s getting a little blacker in colour. There doesn t seem to be any pus. What is it really? And what do I do?
Sore bump on the pelvic area is indicative of a skin infection, cyst, abscess, infected ingrown hair, it may be due to STD, lymph nodes, etc. You are suggested to take care of your hygiene. Avoid sex for a couple of days. Do not touch or scratch the area affected. Get clinically examined by a GP, get STD tests done to be on the safer side. If reports are positive you may need antibiotics / antivirals. You can apply clotrimazole cream on the sore bump for relief. Take Acetaminophen, one SOS, when needed for relief. Do not wear any ornaments in the groin area to avoid any symptoms due to allergy.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Nupur K., General & Family Physician
