What Causes A Sore Bump On The Side Of The Foot?

I have a very small bump on the side of my foot. Seems like nothing. But it is very, very sore to the touch. What in the world could it be? It has been there for at least 8 months and has not changed in any way. Very strange but very sore! Please tell me what to do to it.

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,
Thanks for using healthcaremagic.com
I have gone through your query and I can understand your concerns.

Probable diagnosis : plantar wart
Differential diagnosis: molluscum/cutaneous horn/skin cancer(very rare)
treatment plan :semi conservative (cauterization/laser)
Outcome : Excellent

As per your description it seems that you have "plantar wart" on your feet.It is a benign (non cancerous) condition and nothing to worry in it.It is readily curable and chances of complications are very very rare.
But before commencing the treatment we have to rule out some other diseases which can be easily done by a dermatologist. If he find something abnormal you may require a biopsy to confirm the diagnosis.
I suggest you to consult a dermatologist and he can explain you about the various treatment options. As a first line therapy you can apply salicylic acid containing ointments like "duofilm" ,but chances of recurrence is very high.you can also opt for cauterization which is highly effective.
In advanced centers laser treatment is available for warts, which is painless and very effective but cost is a problem.

Hope this information help you.
Wishing you good health.

Regards.
