What Causes A Sore Throat And Ear Problem?
Hi,
I am 28 yrs old, female, height is 5ft 5 inches and my weight is 60 kgs. I have been suffering with a throat and ear problem for the last one and a half yrs. I have been to several ENT and General Medicine doctors in Kolkata, India but none could diagnose my prob. Whenever i sit under the fan , or talk on the phone or listen to songs on my PC or even take a sip of cold water i start getting a sore throat leading to severe pain in my left ear which ultimately leads to a headache. I have already tried taking steam with karvol & sentur oil, have taken enough anti biotics and nasal sprays. While doing valsava air comes out only from the right ear and not from the left ear.My right ear seems to be normal. Some doctors suggest that i should go for BAWO. Some say that the opening of the eustachian tube has narrowed down on the left side and thus i should go for canalisation Could you please advice which hospital in India should i visit to get this diagnosed? and what are your views on this? What could it be exactly?

This is very classical.
This can be due to Trigeminal neuralgia- a condition of the nerve which discharges on its own or have a factor like compression or rubbing on it by something.
I would advise :
MRI of the brain with trigeminal nerve / brain and sinuses.
I hope you do not have hypertension ( high blood pressure).
Try Gabapentin under the care of a Neurologist and you may be fine.
Get treated for the ENT problem too simultaneously.
