Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hi. About a year ago I noticed a spot on my left side of my neck. Its about the size and shape of a quarter and it started out reddish in color and over time became the color of a bruise. When I first noticed it the affected area felt more smooth than the surrounding area, now it feels the same as the skin surrounding the area. There is no pain, tenderness, or swelling or raising of the area nor has there been a lesion there. I have been told it looks like a hickey. I m concerned about what it might be and I do not have health insurance to go see a doctor. What could it be?
* As per my clinical experience, the smooth spot over the neck area sounds to be mole as there is no pain, tenderness or raising of the area.
* Usually mole remains asymptomatic for long long years, but one-time evaluation with your primary care provider is recommended to rule out any other issue underneath. Do feel free to get further medical assistance through the website.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
Regards,
Dr Bhagyesh V. Patel, General Surgeon
