What Causes A Stopped-up Ear For My Son?

My son just finished 10 days of antibiotics for a sinus infection and took mucinex d. He now has what seems to be a stopped up ear. When he tries to pressurize it there is a squeaky noise that even I can hear. There has been draining (water) and slight pain. There is no fever and glands do not feel swollen. He has no pain when I tug his earlobe as he normally does with swimmers ear. He is a competitive swimmer and trains almost daily.
