Hi,I am Dr. Prabhakar Koregol (Cardiologist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I m an African American woman and I m in good health as far never had high blood pressure,it s always perfect my Dr.says but today it read My blood pressure was low,no one didn t explain to me what that was all about so I am looking for answers to why it s low an what s the symptoms.
Hypotension (low blood pressure) without specific reasons cannot occur by itself, it is the fluid loss from the body like diarrhea, vomiting or bleeding that causes low blood pressure. Suddenly standing up from a sitting position or sleeping position can also cause hypotension (called orthostatic hypotension). Chronic illnesses and starvation are caused due to low blood pressure. You have not mentioned the reading of blood pressure.
It is advisable to see a physician for correct reading of blood pressure. If you do not have any symptoms then it is nothing to worry.
Hope I have answered your query, let me know for further assistance.
