What Causes A Sudden Nut Allergy?

Does a cashew allergy run in families? My niece had a severe anaphylactic reaction to cashews a few years ago having eaten them previously. She is also mildly allergic to pistachios and carries an epi pen. My son is peanut mad so I d never concerned him an allergic child and certainly not to nuts. Like his niece he d eaten cashews before but tonight unexpectedly within 5 minutes of eating a mouthful of dessert made with cashew butter he started to vomit. I just thought he d eaten too fast, caught a bug or whatever but now wondering if it s the same allergy.

Hi,

Allergies may run in families but it's not must. And most people of the same family won't be allergic to the same substance.

Vomiting after food does not indicate an allergy to the foods. It may more likely be caused by bad food, contaminated food or food posining. So I don't understand that it means an allergy to the substance.

Still, it's better to use it with caution next time. I mean not to take tmit too much before testing it.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
