What Causes A Sudden Panic Attack And Blurred Vision?

I had like a sudden panic attack, and my L- eye went blind for a few minutes and some blurred vision occurred simultaneously. Have had blurred vision attacks for the last 15 years and they subside after taking aspirin and lying down within 15 minutes, but the loss of vision in the L-eye was scary, never happened before? . I have Chondrosarcoma of the base of the skull, which was resected twice, in 1999 and 2011 plus cyber-knife radiation treatment in 2014. What s causing the total blindness? Lack of circulation , a short circuit in the nerves? What s your prognosis? Probably something I don t want to hear!!!! I m 78, but very active and independent. Thanks.

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

Sudden onset blurring of vision is commonly seen with lung brain pathology.
So get done MRI brain.
If MRI brain is normal then no need to worry for brain pathology.
Sometimes acute stress and anxiety can also cause panic attack and blurring of vision.
So consult psychiatrist and get done counselling sessions.
Try to identify stressor in your life and start working on its solution.
You may need anxiolytic drugs (propranolol and flunarizine combination) too.
Don't worry, you will be alright with all these.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
