What Causes A Sudden Temporary Loss Of Speech With Dizziness?

Hello, while in class last night I was unable to speak for about five minutes and had difficulty responding to a text message later. I m 69 and expect I had a TIA. I didn t feel any numbness, rapid heart beat or pain. I did feel light headed and out of touch with things. I m doing fine today. Thanks for any suggestions??

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

The symptoms which you suggested are definitely of TIA. I would recommend a brain imaging MRI, cardiology work up (echo) and carotid Doppler to look out for the focus of disease. After that anti-coagulation drugs can be planned so that you don't suffer further TIA or stroke in future.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Loveleen Sharma, General & Family Physician
