Hi Dear,

Welcome to HCM.

Understanding your concern.

Thanks for your query . The sweet taste you mention in query is probably not related to cough . The sweet taste in mouth indicate probably indicate diabetic condition.

In diabetic person the fat break down occur instead of sugar which produces ketone bodies that smell or taste sweet .

I would suggest you to consult doctor for proper examination . Doctor may order blood test for ketone bodies to find out the exact cause . Doctor may prescribe drug like metformine .

There can be other conditions also which can be possible and need to be ruled out like neurological disorder which seeks medical attention because it can be a indication of stroke or GERD (gastrointestinel reflux) which cause dry cough , sore throat and sweet taste

So also consult gastroenterologist and neurologist if it is not due to diabetic condition.

Hope your concern has been resolved.

Best Wishes,
Dr. Harry Maheshwari
