What Causes A Tender Spot In Lower Right Side After Gum Surgery?

About 6 weeks ago I had gum surgery to fix pockets around back teeth on the lower right side. I have been healing well, but I've had one very small sore spot. It feel like a tiny little spot where there is exposed bone. Tiny as in maybe the size of a pin head. It's only a little tender, but no big discomfort. I've been eating on the left side to avoid aggrivating the spot. Is this something that will heal itself or do I need to have it looked at.

Hi..
Welcome to HEALTHCARE MAGIC..

I have gone through your query and can understand your concern.

As per your complain and presentation of symptoms tender spot on gums can be nothing serious and it can be a gum boil or a canker sore and and nothing to worry about it until it does not increase in size and doing antimicrobial mouth rinses, warm saline gargles and topical application of antimicrobial ointment can help..
But in case if it increases in size consult an Oral Physician and get evaluated and for gum boil scaling and topical application of antimicrobial ointment can resolve.

Another thing that I would like to bring to your notice is that if there is exposed bone present uncovered in mouth then it is abnormal finding and you should immediately consult a PERIODONTIST or an ORAL SURGEON and get evaluated and after proper examination treatment can be done..

Hope this information helps..

Thanks and regards..
