What Causes A Thick White Spot On The Bottom Inner Lip?

Hi, I have one white spot on the inside of my bottom lip that looks like a canker sore, but isn t because it doesn t hurt. And it keeps on thickening and toughening up. It popped one time, but healed and got bigger. What is it? I m worried it could be the beginnings of mouth cancer. Any help is appreciated! Thanks, Camden

Hi..
Thanks for the query..

Well, a spot on the inside of the bottom lip that is painless and popped once, healed bit recurred seems to be a mucous cyst or Mucocele..
A mucocele occurs due to obstruction in the duct of the salivary gland or ruptured duct of the gland..
It can heal on its own but recur..
For now it does not look anything like cancer..
However a clinical examination is a must for confirmation..
If it is a mucocele doing concentrated salt water rinses can help..
If it still recur then surgical removal has to be done..

Hope this helps..

Regards..
