I had endoscopic sinus surgery two weeks ago (second one) that addressed all sinus areas. Since then, I experience unpredictable, short-lived motion sickness. My left ear is plugged (which is not unsual) and today a feel a throbbing in it. My whole left side of my neck is very sore including my sternocleodmastis, traps, scalenes, etc. My mastoid process is significantly more swollen on my left side and is red. I explained above to my ENT during my two post op appointments about the motion sickness and I fell he just ignores it. The latter part of my symptoms have occurred today. I was on Augmentin for 10 days prior and after surgery (originally due to left ear infection). What would you do if you were me?
The redness and pain over left mastoid indicates mastoiditis and is of an urgent concern. - You need another antibiotic and strong anti-inflammatory medicines - Get CT scan of mastoids - Urgent mastoid surgery if mastoiditis is present - Take second opinion if required - All these things are urgent hence do not waste time and take the correct decisions in a fast way
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
