Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I am taking 10 m of ability and Wednesday morning I woke up with a rash on my face. It tingles and is not responding to Benadryl ointment and i t feels tight and itchy. my email is YYYY@YYYY I do not know if I should call my primary care doctor for a steroid shot or what I should do.
Tingling sensation, rash and itching could be prodromal symptoms of viral infection like Herpes. These symptoms will be followed by appearance of blisters. You are very infectious until blister is crusted. So take precautionary measures to avoid spread of infection like proper hand washing.
Treatment with antiviral medication like acyckovir within first 2 days of onset of symptoms, can decrease its severity and duration.
Please be advised to follow up with a primary care physician to confirm diagnosis and proper management.
Hope I was able to help you Please address any more concerns Regards, Dr.Lekshmi
