What Causes A Tiny Black Mole With A Surrounding Halo?

I am a fair skinned, freckled, moley woman of 53 years with a family history of melanoma, breast, lung, and ovarian cancer, at young ages, of siblings and cousins. I had three "normal" looking moles pop up suddenly and my doctor excised and sent off for pathology. One mole came back with abnormal cells and the pathologist asked for more tissue samples Friday. Saturday a tiny, black/blue mole with a halo appeared 5 inches above the abnormal tissue. My suspicion is melanoma-since AKs and basal cell carcinomas do not present themselves this way. Your thoughts?

hi..thanks for sharing you problem in healthcaremagic forum..
fair skinned people with family history of melanoma are at more risk of having melanoma more then normal people..as you already excised the moles and the results are suspicious, its better to excise the abnormal tissue with full treatment protocol of melanoma...your are right that Basal cell carcinomas are not that much aggressive to pop up so early..
better to mention the location of the lesion..
i will advise to go to your doctor and have the treatment of lesion with full protocol of melanoma...hope everything will be al right..feel free to ask again..
thanks
