Hi,I am Dr. Prabhakar Koregol (Cardiologist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
hello I am having a very low pulse rate. I have svt and hover around 90 to 110. For the last hour it has been as low as 48 and as high as 63 but mostly hovering in the 50's. My blood pressure started at 128/90. When my pulse was low my blood pressure dropped to 98/60. So I went and got one of those energy drinks for the caffeine to help speed up my heart. Its been an hour and my heart rate was in the 60's when I started and now is in the 50's. I also had a procedure today getting 4 x-ray guided steroid injections. The Dr. gave me oxycodine. I took that and ambien when I went to bed. I have stiff person syndrome and take 40 mg of Valium several times a day and have for a few months now. A few hours before bed I took 30 mg of Valium so that I wasn't taking everything at the same time. Now I am afraid to sleep, I don't want to have a cardiac arrest. What do you think?
Hi dear Your current problem of low heart rate must be due to some drugs you are using for SVT. but your heart rate is not too low to be worried. You need to review your treating doctor ( for SVT) and may require some dose modifications. An ECG is also advisable in this situation.before going to doctor, if you find that your heart rate going further low, you can skip or reduce the rate lowering drug which you are currently taking.
Thank you
