What Causes A Watery Discharge After Total Abdominal Hysterectomy?

I had a total abdominal hysterecomy 4 weeks ago and all of a sudden have a continous watery non smelling discharge that seems to be getting heavier. My gynae says I have no need to worry it's the body healing. Is this true and if so how long does the process take before one returns to normal
