What Causes A White Bump On Tongue And Tonsil With Stuffed Nose?

Hi my name is Kelsey, and I have had a really stuffed up nose for the past 2 days. And now i noticed that there is a white bump on the side of my tongue and my tonsil on the same side as the bump is swollen. I don't think its strep but I could be wrong. What is it? should i just gargle with salt water?

As per your query stuffed up nose along with a white bump over the tonsil can be due to viral throat infection or can also be due to sinusitis while the white bump over the tongue can be an apthous ulcer or can be due to injury caused by tongue bite..
It seems most probably to be a viral infection but can be a secondary bacterial infection along with viral..
Along with gargling with salt water you also need to take medications to clear up the nose as well as reduce congestion..
You can take antibiotics like Clarithromycin or levofloxacin for 5 days.
Take decongestants like Pseudoephadrine [sudafed]
Mucolytics like Ambroxol or Bromohexine can be taken as it loosen the mucous and makes draining easy.
Do steam inhalations and use a humidifier in your room.
For ulcer over tongue warm saline gargles will help.
If there is pain you can apply a numbing gel containing choline salicylate or lignocaine.
Avoid spicy food.
