What Causes A White Spot On The Cornea?

I woke up this morning and my left eye is sensitive to light, with slight swelling, redness and a small but noticeable white spot on my cornea, is there something I can take over the counter to alleviate the condition, or should I seek professional medical treatment?

Hello,

Many times a patient with red-eye has conjunctivitis, which is not dangerous and is treated simply.

However, there are certain symptoms and signs that make us concerned about something more serious going on, and one of them is light sensitivity.

This, along with your description of something white on the cornea, would lead me to recommend that you seek medical attention for this.

You may have a foreign body in the cornea or some kind of abrasion that is causing this redness and pain. There are also more serious infections that can cause light sensitivity, so I would make sure to get this checked out.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
