What Causes Abdominal Bloating After Taking Norvasc?

Yes, for the last several days I have been feeling extremely bloated (stomach) for no apparent reason. I m eating relatively little food, but I do take a lot of meds (Androgel, prednisone, hyosciamine, generic mestinon, ativan, tenorectic, allopurinol, generic Norvasc) . The only relatively new drug is Norvasc. Why would I suddenly feel this intense bloating? http://www.healthcaremagic.com/web/images/ui/consultNew.png

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Yes, it is due to Norvasc. It is one of the most widely prescribed anti-hypertensive agents.

The reported chronic gastrointestinal side effects from amlodipine include constipation, dyspepsia, dysphagia, diarrhea, flatulence and pancreatitis.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr AJEET SINGH, General & Family Physician
