What Causes Abdominal Bloating And Blood In Stool?

I have bloating and blood and mucus in my stools. It is also runny yet I can t really have a bm. It just comes out as small balls . I have a colonoscopy booked but not for a few weeks yet. Should I go to the hospital? A walk in clinic? Or just wait?

Hi,

First of all, it's sad to know what you had been going through lately.

Based on the history you have shared, colonoscopy and biopsy is a must to rule out inflammatory bowel disease and stool microscopy may also be needed.

Meanwhile, baseline blood work up to look for hemoglobin levels to rule in sensual blood loss, and if not dangerously low, an appointment can be waited for but if not urgent gastroenterologist review may be needed.

Meanwhile, antacids like Omeprazole and motility agents like domperidone can be used.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Saddiq Ulabidin,
