General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

For phlegm in throat following work-up can be done.
• CBC
• Auscultation
• Sputum examination, if needed
• Chest x-ray, if needed

According to these reports and auscultation further management can be decided. For phlegm expectoration, ambroxol containing syrup can be prescribed. Steam inhalation done 3 times a day. Drink more water and warm water especially for soothing and to break mucus. If CBC shows high count and neutrophilia then antibiotic course prescribed.

Consult physician or pulmonologist for examination and discuss all these.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Parth Goswami
