What Causes Abdominal Bloating And Pressure In The Ribs?

18 yrs ago I was experiencing a sensation under my breastbone, upper abdomen that felt like there was a softball in there.. It happened right after I returned from a 16 mile back packing trip. I had my gallbladder out a few years earlier. I went to a PA and she prescribed me Nexium which I took and within a few weeks I felt better. She said just by symptoms it was likely I had a Hiatal Hernia. Since, I ve experienced this off and on and will take Nexium or Prevacid until symptoms disappear. Lately I have the same feeling with extreme bloating, tender to touch, pressure in my right side ribs, heartburn and now I feel like I have a something in my throat all the time, constantly coughing trying to get it out. Prevacid is not working AT ALL. Any suggestions? Thoughts

Hello,

It is due to severe gastritis secondary to acid reflux.

As of now, you can take antacids like Omeprazole or Pantoprazole for symptomatic relief.

If symptoms persist better to consult a gastroenterologist and get evaluated.
