What Causes Abdominal Cramping And Diarrhea Post Bowel Resection Surgery?

i had bowel resection surgery due to severe diverticulitis about 4 years ago removing approximately 12 inches of my colon. I ve had diarrhea about 3-4 times a week since then. Last Thursday I also began having abdominal cramping much of the time in addition to the diarrhea. any ideas?

hi.

The cramping is quite common in patients who have had partial or complete bowel resection, it is nothing to really worry about, but I would encourage you to report all symptoms to your treating doctor so he/she is well informed and also checks for any undesired changes during follow-up visits.
