Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes Abdominal Cramps And Brown Vaginal Discharge?
Hello, I am 66 years old and started having cramping and brownish discharge. Cramps feel just like a normal period when I was young. Discharge has been going on for about 24 hours now. Any answers as to why this would occur now. I have been on and HRT (prempro) for decades.
I would like to know the cause you were prescribed HRT. If the cause is no more there, in my opinion, it should be stopped. I like to ask you: 1. is there any itching in the vaginal area? 2. is there any burning sensation or dryness? 3. is there a foul smell in the discharge?
I would suggest some tests: 1. Hysterosonography (HSG) 2. lower Abdominal USG 3. Complete Blood Count.
Please post the results and answers. If too much cramp, you can take Dicycloverine hydrochloride, if needed.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Dipan Samanta, General & Family Physician
