What Causes Abdominal Cramps And Constipation?

I think I may have divuticulitus, onset was last night, bad cramping in lower abdomen, stools started as constipation, then went more toward very loose with red membrane, then went to red membrane alone. There was no actually dripping of blood, but was pinkish on the wipe. The cramping has subsided some but is still there. Each time today I went to the bathroom, all that appeared was the reddish membrane and pinkish on the tissue. I spoke with my nurse line through United Healthcare, she advised me to see my doctor tomowwor morning. Can you tell me anything more? Also, I have been getting flushed and sweaty at times.

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

As per your clinical history is concerned you have abdominal cramping and constipation so there are many pathological causes responsible for it. As you have no vomiting history as well as fever so we cannot say it as diverticulitis.

So, in my opinion do a stool examination and pelvic ultrasound examination. This will pinpoint your exact pathological disorder.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Uday Nath Sahoo
