What Causes Abdominal Cramps And Irregular Periods While Taking Prevacid?

I am a 57 year old female. Only medication I take is one 40mg prevacid a day. I have not had a period for like 7-8 years. Approximately 2-3 weeks ago I felt like I was lightly cramping, but gave it no thought. This morning while getting ready for church, I began bleeding. Not heavy, more spotting than anything. This has me worried why all of a sudden this began.Thank you, Suzie

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

As per my clinical experience, post menopausal bleeding after a period of 7-8 years is matter of concern. It must be evaluated with expert gynecologist with Pap smear and endometrial biopsy if required. The possibilities of endometrial hyperplasia, cervical cancer or carcinoma in situ must be excluded by all means.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Bhagyesh V. Patel, General Surgeon
